In 2020, I was scheduled to have a conference at the Biltmore in Coral Gables. I am blessed when my conferences are at historic hotels. The Biltmore was announced to be built by George Merrick in November of 1925 and opened its doors in January of 1926. In less than 14 months, this beautiful and iconic hotel was built, showcasing remarkable architectural and engineering feats for its time. The grandeur of its Mediterranean Revival style continues to captivate visitors, standing as a testament to the rich history of the area. As I strolled through its corridors, I couldn’t help but imagine the bustling social scene of the 1920s, with guests experiencing the opulence and luxury that defined the era. The timeless elegance of the Biltmore evokes a sense of nostalgia, and I found myself marveling at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into its construction. Each corner holds a piece of historical significance, from the iconic tower that once served as a beacon for aviators to the ballrooms that hosted extravagant events. The captivating stories embedded within its walls truly make it a living museum, connecting the present to the past in an unparalleled way. On my floor, the photos in the hallway told the story of how the hotel was transformed into a military hospital during World War II, adding another layer of depth to its already rich narrative. As I prepared for my conference, I couldn’t help but feel honored to be part of the legacy of this storied establishment.

As you drive up to The Biltmore, it is a WOW! The grandeur of the historic architecture, the lush gardens, and the opulent surroundings create an awe-inspiring sight. The elegant Mediterranean-style building with its imposing towers and intricate details captures the essence of luxury and sophistication. The pristine lawns and vibrant flora that envelop the estate add to the enchanting atmosphere, making it a truly unforgettable experience. With its rich history and breathtaking beauty, The Biltmore stands as a testament to timeless elegance and unparalleled hospitality.

As you walk into the lobby, you can’t help but be in awe of the lobby. I watch Chateau Diaries on YouTube. One of the first things I noticed were the ceilings with the gold stars on the blue ceiling, which reminds me of the ceiling on the chapel of St. Joseph on the grounds of Château de la Lande. I am a patron of the Chateau Diaries and bought a star to remember my sister.

There are many amazing places in the lobby to take in the beauty. Whenever, I see these type of spaces, I think about the history and conversations that these wall have seen and heard.

The rooms were beautifully decorated, but you can tell they were built almost 100 years ago with the size of the room. The vintage allure of the space is evident in the intricate moldings and the charming hardwood floors that whisper tales of bygone eras. Each room tells a story of a different time, with its own unique character and timeless elegance. The historical significance of the building is palpable in every nook and cranny, creating an enchanting atmosphere that transports visitors to a bygone era of grace and sophistication.

I arrived at the hotel when it was lunch time and in the lobby, they have an area that does an afternoon high tea. I have never done a high tea before and they did a great job adapting it to be gluten free. There was a harpist which added to the atmosphere. She also gave a great history of the hotel. The high tea selection was impressive, featuring delicate gluten-free pastries, finger sandwiches, and an assortment of flavorful teas. As I enjoyed the exquisite treats, the soothing melodies from the harp filled the air, creating a truly enchanting experience. The historical anecdotes shared by the harpist added an intriguing dimension to the ambiance, further enriching the memorable high tea experience.

The grounds and conference areas are just as amazing and so much time could be spent exploring. Every corner is a piece of beauty. From the lush gardens filled with colorful flowers to the meticulously designed architecture, there is a sense of tranquility that envelops the entire space. The serene walkways lead to hidden alcoves perfect for quiet contemplation, while the grand halls exude an air of sophistication and grace. The attention to detail is evident in every aspect, making each visit a new opportunity to discover something delightful.
