There are so many great wineries in the Rhone Valley. During this trip, I fell in love with them. Philip from La Madelène chose some great places for us to visit. Domaine de la Jaufrette was one of those visits. The winemaker produces his wines in a traditional way. Philip let us know that means: little de-stemming, old barrels, long aging and releasing the wines for sale only when he thinks they are ready. You can tell by the yummy wines that are created, the winemaker puts lots of love into the wine. The vineyards are located in the Gigondas, Vacqueyras and a little in Chateauneuf du Pape. We usually visit the wineries after harvest. It’s hard to believe that with all the wine tours that I have done, our trip to the Rhone was the first time we saw grapes on the vines!
