I love Colorado, it is a great place and sooooo many things to do!  We were deciding what to do today and we decided to head to Rocky Mountain National Park!  As we were leaving Vail…..this was heading in down the valley.

Storm coming into the Valley

We were happy to be getting out before the storm came in and we were on our way to Rocky Mountain National Park. Here was our view along I-70. All of my friends of the East Coast are in the middle of a heat wave!

Clear blue skies!

As we headed on Colorado Route 40 North towards the park, this is what we began to see….

Snow on May 30th
We are driving into the storm!

At this point, I checked the temperature and it was 28 degrees. I have to say, this is a first for me…..being in the snow and the temperature being in the twenties on Memorial Day! Last year, I was in Puerto Rico and I have to say- I prefer the beach. I was laughing the whole time. We then went down the mountain to Granby, CO. We were 2 1/2 hours into our drive…..about 1/2 an hour to go. We stopped at Brickhouse 40 for lunch. We were speaking with our waitress about where we were going. That is when she informed us that Rocky Mountain National Park still was closed, due to snow. They received so my much snow that Colorado Route 34 will be closed for another couple of weeks. The only way to get back to Denver was to go back the way we came. I was laughing……the drive was even better on the way back because the Phillies were playing, so we listened to game on the radio. This brought back many childhood memories….LOL! Don’t mind watching sports on TV, but not listening to them on the radio. Thank you to the waitress who told us the road was closed, it saved us HOURS in the car! As I was texting with my sister about my adventures she was reminding me about my blog and telling me to “Travel with Laughter”!!

I had to laugh at this……what would a place be if you can’t buy guns and lumber!

I had a great time and many laughs in Colorado!

  1. I LOVE Granby!! I stumbled on that town a couple years ago, when I went to Denver with a couple friends to go to a Broncos game. Such a great town!! Thanks for the sweet memories …

  2. Helen; It was 100 degrees in Houston yesterday. Looking at the Rockies was refreshing! Great pics…enjoy your travels!!……note to self: stop making fun of Grushkin`s weather until November. Gillas and I must suffer in silence for now.
