The summer in Doylestown has been exceptionally dry and hot, with temperatures soaring to record highs. The relentless heat has been accompanied by stifling humidity, making it difficult to find respite from the sweltering conditions. However, amidst this intense weather, the weekend brought a welcome change with blissful, picturesque conditions. The air was still warm, but the reduced humidity made it more bearable, prompting me to seize the opportunity and head to the serene Peace Valley Park. Nestled around the tranquil Lake Galena, the park offered a refreshing escape from the heat and a chance to reconnect with nature. Memories of the times spent here with my sister flooded back. Reflecting on the training walks we undertook together in preparation for the Avon Breast Cancer walk, I felt a surge of nostalgia and gratitude for the shared moments. Today, as I savored the idyllic surroundings, I couldn’t resist the urge to capture the beauty of the park, so I embarked on a peaceful drive around the lake, pausing intermittently to immortalize the captivating scenery through my lens.
You can rent some boats to take out on the lake. I do love being by the water, but I am not confident in my abilities being out there by myself. By the time I finished walking around the area, it was getting busy and hot in the sun.
There is an area that can be rented for people to store their kayak’s at the park. I have heard from friends that these spots are tough to get.
Opposite of the dam at the park is Peace Valley Nature Center. It is an area that there are usually bird watchers. Today was no different and as I approached this morning there were a number of people on the bridge looking to the sky. There was a Bald Eagle flying around, its majestic wingspan drawing the attention of the onlookers. As the eagle soared gracefully overhead, the crowd marveled at the sight. I wasn’t able to capture a photo of the eagle, but there was a beautiful white egret strutting their stuff near the water’s edge, its long slender legs moving with effortless grace as it searched for its next meal. The serene atmosphere of the nature center was further enhanced by the gentle rustling of the leaves and the melodious chirping of the songbirds nestled among the branches. Visitors wandered along the winding trails, pausing to admire the colorful wildflowers and the tranquil waters of the lake reflecting the vibrant hues of the surrounding foliage. The interconnected ecosystem of the nature center buzzed with life, offering a captivating display of natural beauty at every turn.
There are beautiful spots around the lake.
