New Orleans is a popular town for conferences, attracting professionals and enthusiasts from various fields. I had a couple of conferences within 4 months in NOLA, which gave me the opportunity to explore the city more deeply. I have been traveling there often, each visit revealing new facets of this vibrant city. When I first started traveling to New Orleans, I realized it is so much more than the famous Bourbon Street. It’s a place rich in history, culture, and diversity, and now, when I travel to NOLA, I rarely visit Bourbon Street. Instead, I find myself captivated by the incredible array of local cuisine, the warm and welcoming people, and the breathtaking sites scattered throughout the city. From the lively street musicians in the French Quarter to the serene beauty of City Park, every corner of New Orleans offers something unique and unforgettable that deepens my appreciation for this extraordinary city.

Virgin Hotels New Orleans

During a conference, it was my first time staying at a Virgin Hotels, and I must say, it was a great experience. The hotel presented a fantastic blend of modern design and unique charm, truly embodying what a great boutique hotel should be. I absolutely loved the distinctive style of the hotel, from the vibrant colors to the artistic decor that filled every corner. The rooms were not only cool but also exceptionally comfortable, making it easy to unwind after long days of networking and attending sessions. One of the highlights was the thoughtful handwritten note left for me, which added a personal touch to my stay and made me feel welcomed. However, I do have to say, I didn’t quite understand the purpose of the red footboard that was placed on only one corner of the bed. It was a curious feature and, to be honest, it was something that I unintentionally tripped over a couple of times during my stay. HAHA! Overall, my experience at Virgin Hotels was delightful and memorable, despite the little quirks.

The lobby greets you with a great vibe, featuring an inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. As you step inside, the warm lighting and stylish decor set the perfect backdrop for relaxation and social interaction, creating a bustling yet serene environment. Comfortable seating arrangements invite you to unwind, while the subtle aroma of fresh coffee wafts through the air, enhancing the welcoming experience and encouraging you to linger a little longer.

Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub

In NOLA, there is no shortage of amazing live music. One of my friends introduced me to Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub, a hidden gem nestled in the bustling heart of the French Quarter. We had a great time listening to the music, which filled the intimate space with a lively energy that was simply infectious. The talented musicians played a mix of classic jazz standards and original compositions, creating an atmosphere that was both nostalgic and innovative. It is a venue that is focused on music, which we loved, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the rich cultural tapestry that New Orleans has to offer. The warm ambiance, along with the friendly staff, made our evening unforgettable, leaving us eager to return for another night of incredible tunes.

Krewe Flagship French Quarter

I first heard of Krewe from Anna Kloots on Instagram, where she shared her experiences with their stunning eyewear collection. After researching Krewe, I realized that their Flagship store was in New Orleans, a city renowned for its vibrant culture and unique shops. As luck would have it, I was going to be in town for a conference, so I decided to make a special trip to stop by the store. It is absolutely beautiful, with a chic and inviting atmosphere that perfectly complements their stylish products. While I was there, I met with the manager, who was incredibly helpful, about the possibility of hosting an event at the store. In the back of the store, there is a lovely courtyard for use, adorned with greenery and string lights that create a magical ambiance. We were able to set up food and music, creating a delightful experience while the attendees shopped in the store, exploring the latest collections. Since my first visit, I have completely fallen in love with my Krewe sunnies; they are not only fashionable but also incredibly durable. I appreciate how they effortlessly elevate any outfit and provide excellent UV protection. They are the ones that I reach for whenever I need a reliable and stylish pair of sunglasses, ensuring I always look chic while out and about.

Fives

Whenever I am traveling, I love getting recommendations for restaurants and things to do from locals, as they often provide the most authentic experiences that truly capture the essence of a place. The manager of the Krewe flagship store enthusiastically recommended a hidden gem called Fives, and I must say, it did not disappoint. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was vibrant and inviting, perfectly complementing the delicious food and attentive service. I was particularly impressed by the oysters, which were fresh and flavorful, making them a standout dish on the menu. The staff, ever so friendly and accommodating, contributed to an overall delightful dining experience. Additionally, the salad exceeded all my expectations, bursting with flavors and colors that made it both visually appealing and delectable. Given my wonderful time there, Fives will undoubtedly be on my list of places to recommend to friends and family when they visit New Orleans, as I believe it captures the local spirit while offering an unforgettable culinary adventure.

Cafe Du Monde

While in New Orleans for a conference, I went with a friend to Cafe Du Monde, a place that is not just famous for its delicious beignets but also for its vibrant atmosphere and rich history. Even though I wasn’t able to eat their yummy beignets this time, I could still enjoy the tantalizing aroma that wafted through the air, tempting my taste buds. Watching others indulge in their warm, powdered sugar-covered pastries was almost as satisfying as tasting them myself. If you have never been, a stop at the iconic Cafe Du Monde is a must, as it offers not just a culinary delight but a charming glimpse into the heart of New Orleans culture, where locals and tourists alike gather to savor the sweetness of life together.

St. Louis Cathedral

For the first time in January of 2024, I went inside St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square. Many times I have passed by the Cathedral, admiring its majestic facade from the bustling streets outside, but I had never ventured inside to experience its serene beauty. For those who have followed my blog for a while, they know that one of my favorite things to do is visit churches when traveling, as they often encapsulate the history and culture of a place in a way that few other sites can. It’s surprising to me that I had never taken the opportunity to step within the hallowed walls of the Cathedral, especially given its iconic status in New Orleans. Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the intricate stained glass windows, which cast a kaleidoscope of colors across the floor, and the rich aroma of incense wafting through the air, which made the experience feel almost sacred. I will definitely visit again to take in more beauty and perhaps even attend a service, allowing myself to immerse deeper into the spiritual ambiance of such a historic landmark.

Love taking walks in the morning before a city wakes up, when the streets are still quiet and the air is fresh with the promise of a new day. I often find solace in these early hours, where I can gather my thoughts and appreciate the beauty of the world around me. Recently, during two different conferences, I took the opportunity to explore the vibrant city life and found myself walking along the Mississippi with friends. The gentle sound of the water flowing beside us and the magnificent views of the skyline made the experience even more memorable, as we shared stories, laughter, and the joy of companionship while enjoying our morning stroll.

The iconic street cars in New Orleans are always fun to see!

Arnaud’s French 75 Bar

Located in Arnaud’s restaurant is their French 75 Bar, a chic and inviting space that exudes the charm of a classic Parisian bistro. They make an amazing French 75, a delightful cocktail featuring Courvoisier VS, Sugar, Lemon Juice, Moët & Chandon, which perfectly complements the sophisticated atmosphere. They do it a little different with Courvoisier VS vs. gin and I like it better. In addition to this signature drink, they have a yummy bar menu that offers a variety of delectable appetizers and small plates, ideal for sharing or enjoying on your own. Always a great place to unwind, whether you’re catching up with friends over laughter and clinking glasses or savoring a peaceful moment by yourself at the bar, the French 75 Bar captures the essence of good company and fine indulgence.

Hurts Donuts

I wasn’t able to enjoy any of the donuts at Hurts Donuts, since they weren’t gluten free, which was quite disappointing for me as a lover of treats. My friends with me, however, enjoyed their donuts. I had to include this donut shop in New Orleans, mainly because of the catchy and whimsical name that drew me in from the first moment I heard it. In 2025, the Philadelphia Eagles won the Super Bowl with Jalen Hurts as the quarterback, making headlines and solidifying their place in sports history. I know that he doesn’t own it, but it’s a fun name that sticks with you, almost like a sweet memory that lingers long after the moment has passed.
