During lunch, we looked at the map of Lyon and decided to visit Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière. It overlooks the city and sits on top of the hill. We started out confident in the walk, then realized it was quite the trek up the steep hill. In a future blog you will see the tram that we missed and could have taken up to Notre-Dame. All of us trekking up to the church makes for a good story! It did give me the opportunity to take some great pictures. As we ascended, the view unfolded before us, revealing the picturesque landscape of Lyon spread out below, with its distinctive architecture and intertwining rivers. The walk, although challenging, allowed us to notice charming details along the way, such as quaint little shops and hidden viewpoints that we wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. As we finally reached the Basilica, the sense of accomplishment was overwhelming, and the panoramic view from the top was truly breathtaking, a memory that will stay with us for years to come.

You are quite correct, the walk was worth it. The photographs are marvelous.
