When we were planning our trip to Croatia, we discovered that Mali Ston is known for oysters. Nancy and I love oysters, so we knew that oyster tasting needed to be on our agenda. What we didn’t expect was to go on the water and taste directly from the water! We added this to our day when we were visiting the wineries of Pelješac peninsula. Mali Ston is located on the peninsula as well and an easy day trip from Dubrovnik.
Royal Croatian Tours did a great job organizing amazing experiences for us on this trip. We had the same tour guide, Zoran Dragić, that we had for Montenegro and he did an amazing job! We went out on the boat with a local oyster farmer. We loved the personalized tour and tasting. The skies looked like they were going to open up with rain, but they didn’t.
After a quick boat ride to the farm on the bay, we stopped and the oysters were pulled directly from the water.
The oysters were shucked and wine was poured! I love these experiences and it was day that will forever be in my heart. The joy on Nancy’s face says it all.
We also visited the town of Mali Ston. Did a little shopping, wine tasting and visited the salt fields. I love sea salt that I gotten from our adventures in Europe.
